Some Programs
and Services Offered Include:
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) - supplemental help for winter heating bills
LIHEAP Crisis Assistance - Assistance available in a life threatening situation for temporary shelter, fuel, blankets, heaters and furnace repair. Furnace replacement assistance for homeowners.
Weatherization - Assistance with stopping infiltration of cold air into a home. Can include caulking, weather stripping and attic insulation.
Resource Room - Check out the Emmet County Resource Room. Use the computer and printer for job searches and resume preparation. Apply for services or employment online. Some local job postings and applications are also available on site.
Community Christmas Project - Christmas distribution project offered in conjunction with the Department of Human Services and the Emmet County Ministerial Association.
Holiday Projects - Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets are given to the elderly or families based upon availability.
Food Pantry – Three to five day supply of food for those who are out of food or have limited resources to purchase or obtain food. The food for our pantry comes from churches, scout groups, organizations, individuals, businesses and school groups.
Commodities – Nutritional variety of USDA food is available to individuals or families on the first of each month. This is limited to once a month per household.
Food for Life - Provides packages of frozen meat to individuals or families in need. This is given along with a Food Pantry.
Food Assistance Program - Assistance with information, referral, distribution and completion of applications for the Food Assistance Program (formerly food stamps).
Quilts - Given out to families or elderly in need. All of our quilts are made by ladies’ church groups, clubs, etc.
Chore Service- Program for those 60 and over providing assistance with chores . Contingent on availability of funding. Sponsored by Elderbridge Agency on Aging.
Back to School- School supplies are provided to our families. Donations from the community make this program possible.
Client Advocacy - We advocate for families in any capacity available to insure the safety and well being of those we serve.
Referral Services - Information on a wide variety of services available in Northwest Iowa for those faced with situations they find difficult to solve.
