Just Say Know!
Kevin Strang knows that it is “tricky work” finding the right balance to engage youth in reducing underage drinking. That’s why he doesn’t take an anti-drinking stance. Instead he shares his Just Say Know presentation, or rather an “if you choose to drink, do it smart,” approach. His science based lecture helps people minimize the negative effects of alcohol.
Strang is an associate professor in Physiology at the University of Wisconsin- Madison. For several years he has been traveling across Wisconsin presenting versions of Just Say Know to a wide array of audiences; students, teachers, parents, and prosecutors and defense attorneys.
At the request of Power Up YOUth, Strang will present his first Just Say Know presentation in Iowa at the Love Our Kids Celebration at the Webster City Middle School at 1101 Des Moines Street on Sunday May 3, at 2:00 PM. There is no fee and parents and their middle school or high school students are encouraged to come and learn from Strang. In addition, twenty vendors are sharing information and providing fun activities to offer a fun time for families with children ages 0-18, to create awareness about services, and to reduce injuries to children. Many are giving away free prizes. The Love Our Kids Celebration is from 1:00- 4:00
In July of 2008, Strang presented to high school students at the National Youth Leadership Forum. The presentation was recorded and is available to you in the link below.
